The students focused on the procedures of the class room and building a table from sequence. The students needed to label the x- y table with independent, domain, x, and input on the left. On the right side dependent, range, y, and output.

Step 1: Make a table
x: 1 2 3 4
y: 4 7 10 13
Step 2: Find the change x and y
1 to 2 is +1 4 to 7 + 3
2 to 3 is +1 7 to 10 +3
3 to 4 is +1 10 to 13 +3
The change is y over x or 3/1= 3
Step 3 : Write the equation
y = ? +/- x
Plug in 4 for the ?, 3x +/- = y
3(1) +/- x = 1
3 +( minus is used to get a larger number ) 1 = 4
The expression, an equation with out equal sign is y = 3x +1
